Affiliate Marketing

With the surging use of internet worldwide and the exposure of World Wide Web to billions of users, how can we tap into the realm of Internet and find out how it can further benefit us.

Nowadays, creation of personal web is easy and these designs come with simple step by step online guides at sites such as GeoCities or AOL. If you have a content-driven web page, how can you take your site to the next level and make some cash of your traffic?

Affiliate programs are good ways for internet merchants to promote his/her internet business. Affiliate marketing is a method of promoting web business in which an affiliate is rewarded for every sales/customers, subscriptions, or visitor gained through his/her efforts. Usually these affiliates will post the merchants’ links in their Web sites and are paid based on a particular agreement. Common arrangements are based on the volume of visitor sent to the sites or number of sales transacted in the merchants’ site.

The founder of Amazon.com, popularized this idea as an internet marketing strategy, attracting affiliates to post links to individual books in Amazon.com or Amazon.com in general and promising percentage payout based on sales.

Affiliate program payment arrangement consists of three basic type:
Pay-per-sale
Per-per-click
Pay-per-lead
And few other arrangements…
Usually a company could set up an affiliate program based on any action that would benefit them, and then pay their affiliates based on the number of customers the affiliates send them who perform that action.
There are a couple of very popular variations on these basic payment plans:
Two-tier programs: These affiliate programs have a structure similar to multilevel marketing organizations. Affiliates will gain through commissions on sales, leads or clicks based on activity done on merchant’s site.

Residual Programs: Affiliates can keep making money off a visitor they send to the site if the visitor continues to purchase goods or services from the merchant site.
Further to that, there are a few pay-per-impression affiliate programs. Companies running these programs, pay affiliates based only on the number of visitors who see their banner ad, almost like as a traditional advertising program.
The advantage affiliate programs have over traditional advertising is that in an affiliate program, an online merchant only pays its affiliates when it gets a desired result.
